Making a Lucky Cat charm “MANEKI-NEKO”
Program for CAT LOVERS!!!
In our culture, people believe in that a cat with a beckoning paw which is called a Maneki Neko is associated with happiness. Maneki Neko which raises its right paw brings good luck, while Maneki Neko which lifts its left one attracts people and/or customers.
During your trip in Japan you see that Maneki Nekos are often displayed at shops, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses.
Program
1. Know the anecdotal stories about Maneki Neko
2. Know the meaning by the each color of Mankeki Neko
3. Workshop:Make your own MANEKI NEKO
We also recommend for you to participage in Japanese Pottery which starts at 10:00 on the same day.
Ceramic Artist Eriko Kuroda
When I was small, I kept and fed a cat out of my house as my parents used to be against keeping animals. Firstly I fed a cat secretly, but later the cat engaged the hearts and minds of my family. Since then cats have always been by my family side and relax our mind.
Later I started studying a MANEKI NEKO which is a Japanese lucky charm, and come across a touching anecdote about it. It seems that a Maneki Neko holds the power to bewitch. At last I decided to make ceramic a Maneki Neko at my workshop.
I think that this program is fun for not only cat lovers but also Japanese fancy goods collectors!
Please come and enjoy making a MANEKI NEKO.
